ABSTRACT

Finance is the bedrock of any successful business and public organisation. Budget is therefore, a financial statement of an organisation which is considered vital in the planning process of an organisation to achieve it set goals. Budget also helps to forecast its future. This research work adopted both primary and secondary sources of data collection. Simple percentage and table were used in analyzing the data and inferential statistical chi-square was used in validating the data. Adequate controls are not properly maintained over the expenditure and revenue of the local government. Therefore, considerable measure should be taking to correct the ill challenge the budgetary system in the local government and also during budget allocation and control, the local government should ensure or place adequate consideration on human resources in order to motivate workers for efficient performance of the local government.
